Did Veise Beauty Products Really Reduce the Appearance of My Acne Scars?

Veise Beauty Window

The cystic clusters that lived on my cheeks and chin for three years were like powerful glaciers, slowly weathering my skin to create shallow but noticeable valleys. Tourists are less interested in standing around these landmarks with cameras. It’s just me, and maybe you, in the mirror every evening examining the aftermath of a natural phenomenon. So while my cystic acne is mostly gone (right now I’m in a long-term relationship with a very robust visitor on my chin) I’m left with dreaded uneven scaring that we all hope to avoid. I visited a skin specialist, and he said, “there’s a 50-50 chance these procedures will work.” These procedures being injections, dermabrasion, and botox. I left unamused. But when I recently messaged Veise Beauty on a whim asking what I can do about these scars naturally, they kindly responded skincare information and suggestions.

It was clear from the jump that they care about instilling confidence through education and it shows in their packaging (hand-written notes!), social campaign #glowon, and general attitude towards purpose-driven non-tox ingredients. If you’re interested in learning more about the company, you can read my interview with the CEO here. With trust and gratitude used their yummy line for about a month and kept tabs on my scars and big pores. Here’s how it went.

Oh, and, I really take care to consider price point, ingredients, and customer service when choosing products to review.  All of which Veise Beauty passes with flying colors. I want to steer you in the direction of clear skin and a life full of confidence. While I may get a small percentage of whatever you buy through the links I’ve provided, it no way affects the sincerity of this review. It’s really just so I can help pay for this website and the many snacks I require to write. ALSO, it won’t affect how much you spend. In fact, if you use discount code Lalalarell13 at checkout, you will save 13% on your order!

1. HYDRATING FACE WASH

Ingredients: Raw honey, organic raw apple cider vinegar, virgin marula oil, geranium, non-GMO vegetable glycerine.

Price: $24

Feelings: Coming from bar soap, I had some trouble getting used to the liquid-y-ness of this face wash. It would run down my forearms and drip on my bathroom carpet (does anyone know how to get honey out of wool?). I also had to get use to the whole no-suds thing. But after a week I noticed my skin was softer and A LOT less dry thanks to the marula oil, which helps rebuild skin’s lipid layers. I even noticed some color in my skin. I had to double-take one day because I looked so vibrant and tan *flips hair*. Best part? It’s pretty tasty if a little gets in your mouth.

Tips: After giving your paws a good wash, dry them well before applying the face wash. It’s easier to control while it’s tacky with dry hands and skin.

2. ILLUMINATING TONER

Ingredients: Alcohol-free witch hazel, rosewater, glycerin

Price: $16

Feelings: My favorite! I LOVE this easy spritz. It made my skin feel clean and hydrated plus reduced redness around my scar clusters. We know rosewater is an awesome toner that helps rebalance the pH of your skin and witch hazel is a natural astringent that has good oils to keep you dewy.

Tips: Don’t be afraid to use this in a pinch after working out or if you’re rushing in the morning and can’t wash your face. I like using cotton rounds/pads as opposed to cotton balls because I can get two uses out of one (hello, double-sided) and they cover more surface.

3. DREAM SERUM

Ingredients: Distilled water, plant-based hyaluronic acid, kojic acid, glycerine, vitamin C, cold-pressed vitamin E, lactobacillus

Price: From $18

Feelings: Second favorite. This shit is magic. I’ve always kind of waved off serums because they sounded like a fancy made-up version of lotion. Turns out, they are not. After a few days of using, my blackheads around my scars were coming to the surface as if to say, “Larell, it’s time for us to go.” Bless. My skin drank this serum up and left me feeling really happy.

Tips: Use twice a day. Trust me.

4. ULTRA HYDRATING FACE OIL

Ingredients: Virgin marula oil, cold-pressed cucumber oil

Price: $36 for 1/2 oz.

Feelings: I nixed my daily lotion for the purpose of this review and instead finished off my routine with this hydrating face oil. For the first week, I looked pretty slick at work. It’s so lush, getting the proportion right for my skin was a challenge but when I did everything evened out. This oil has lots of antioxidants to increase cell renewal, which I think aided in healing the clusters of scars on my cheeks. I love how these products worked in tandem to restore my skin’s natural flow.

Tips: Careful about using too many drops! Two was the sweet-spot for me. Dab it on your chin, cheeks, and forehead before beginning to rub in.

5. POUR PERFECTION MASK

Ingredients: 100% pure bentonite Indian healing clay, organic raw spirulina, organic rosehip powder, vitamin C

Price: $24

Feelings: Spirulina is a blue-green algae that happens to have lots of essential acids and nutrients that make our skin happy. But it smells fun-ky. So when you mix it with water you may be reminded of the ocean, which is never a bad thing. This is a great mask because it doesn’t suck all that good moisture out of your skin and I noticed my pores were smaller around my nose. Plus it’s easy to remove.

Tips: Try to find a ceramic or glass bowl to mix—makes clean up easy. And throw a headband on before you apply the mask. Remove with a soft warm washcloth.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Did my scars magically even out in three weeks? No. Just like working out, it may take a few months to see results (I know, not what you want to hear). Instead of setting disappointing expectations when it comes to skincare, look for a sense of calm and confidence from your routine—two feelings I got using Veise Beauty. Seeing these pretty bottles lined up on my mirror shelves in the morning made me smile. I felt calm knowing exactly what the plan was each day and night. And I felt good knowing I was working with mother nature’s products to balance my skin’s environment. The little results I saw in just a few weeks were brighter complexion, reduced scar appearance, and hydrated skin. Not too bad if you ask me.
